NATIONAL DAY OF TURKEY MARKED IN AZERBAIJAN
Embassy of Turkey to Azerbaijan gave an official reception on the occasion of 84th anniversary of Turkey`s Republic Day in Gulustan Palace, on October 29.
Ambassador Huseyn Avni Garslioglu gave insight into the history of Azerbaijan and Turkey, and underlined the invaluable role of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in strengthening of fraternal relations between the two countries. Mr. Garslioglu noted that thanks to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s successful policy, Azerbaijan became leader in the region. "Turkish businessmen do all the best to make contribution in Azerbaijan economy. Several projects were implemented, including construction of Baku-Kars-Istanbul railway, which is to connect Europe with Asia", said Mr. Garslioglu. On Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, Ambassador underscored that Turkey will always support Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov congratulated people of Turkey on this momentous event and wished them success on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. Mr. Sharifov expressed his confidence that expected visit of Turkey’s President Abdulla Gul to Azerbaijan will more strengthen relations between the two countries.
Head of departments of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov and Novruz Mammadov, MPs, Ambassador of foreign countries and other officials were present at the meeting.
