National leader Heydar Aliyev`s 90th anniversary marked in Egypt
Baku, May 10 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Egypt has organized an event to mark the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event was attended by members of diplomatic corps accredited in Cairo, Egyptian public and political figures, journalists, students, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijan`s ambassador Shahin Abdullayev briefed the participants on the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev. He noted Heydar Aliyev returned to power in 1993 upon insistent demand of the Azerbaijani people. The diplomat pointed out the national leader started the process of independent state building, adding Heydar Aliyev took important steps to ensure stability and security in the country. “Due to Heydar Aliyev`s efforts the Constitution of Azerbaijan was adopted in 1995 and international relations of the country expanded.”
Abdullayev said Heydar Aliyev`s successful oil strategy and major projects initiated by him ensured long-term development of Azerbaijan. “Today President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the national leader`s political course.”
The ambassador also briefed the event participants on the accomplishments achieved in Azerbaijan in political, economic, social and humanitarian spheres.
Professor of the Ain Shams University Safsafi Al-Quturi spoke of Heydar Aliyev`s contributions to ensuring development of Azerbaijan. The professor called Heydar Aliyev`s rule in Azerbaijan in the second half of the 20th century and 1990’s as an important historical chance for the Azerbaijani people.
Ambassador of Turkey to Egypt Huseyn Avni Botsali called Heydar Aliyev as one of genius leaders of the Turkic world. He noted the development of Azerbaijan was associated with Heydar Aliyev`s far-sighted policy.
Deputy editor of the “Al Masaya newspaper” Mohammad Salam spoke of the accomplishments made in Azerbaijan during the rule of Heydar Aliyev both in the Soviet era and in the independence years.
The event participants saw a documentary on the life and activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
