‘NO BIRD FLU IN AZERBAIJAN’
Baku, October 7 (AzerTAJ) Azerbaijan`s State Veterinary Service said there is no bird flu
in the country after laboratory analysis did not confirm the H5N1 virus in poultry.
Samples collected from 753 birds tested negative for avian influenza, and the next, tenth, monitoring will start on October 22, the Service said.
Azerbaijan is on high alert, and is also tightening controls at borders to try to prevent the spread of the virus through illegal poultry imports.
The country has imposed a temporary ban on import of poultry from affected countries.
