PACE SEEKS TO RELAUNCH DISCUSSIONS ON FROZEN CONFLICTS IN EUROPE
The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) intends to start hearings to resume discussions of the frozen conflicts in Europe. The 2-day hearings have already started in Berlin on November 5 in the framework of implementation by the COE member countries of their obligations. The event is organized jointly by PACE Monitoring Committee and German International Studies and Security Institute.
The hearings will mainly focus on the situation around the Nagorno Karabakh, Abkhazia, Prednistrovie and South Ossetia conflicts, PACE press service told.
The Berlin hearings have two goals - to estimate the situation connected to each conflict and unite efforts of the leading experts of relevant departments and ministries to discuss the role of the Council of Europe in their settlements. Relevant specialists of a number of counties, historians, scientists and experts in the internationals law take part at the hearings.
