Pakistan: Czech mountaineer dies during expedition on world’s ninth-highest mountain

A Czech woman mountaineer has died during an expedition on Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth-highest mountain at 8,125 meters.
Officials in northern Pakistan confirmed that 46-year-old Klara Kolouchova, the first Czech woman to summit Mount Everest and K2, lost her life during the climb. She was among seven climbers aiming to reach the summit of the peak.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred in the Diamer area of the Gilgit-Baltistan region in northern Pakistan. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site, and efforts are underway to determine the exact location where the mountaineer fell.
Klara Kolouchova was an accomplished climber with international recognition, having successfully summited both Everest and K2. Her attempt on Nanga Parbat - Pakistan’s second-highest mountain, famously known as the "Killer Mountain" due to its deadly history - was part of her ambition to conquer all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan confirmed the incident on Thursday and expressed deep sorrow over Kolouchova’s death, describing her as “an inspiration to climbers worldwide.”
Nanga Parbat has claimed the lives of more than 30 climbers who attempted to summit it prior to the first successful ascent in 1953.
