Pakistan, Russia hold bilateral consultations on “Security Issues in Asia”

Pakistan and Russia held the inaugural session of the bilateral consultations on “Security Issues in Asia” in Islamabad.
The sides exchanged views on the current security situation in the Asia-Pacific region and related matters, including potential areas of collaboration, cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these consultations took place between Russian Federation’s Director General for Asia and Pacific Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aleksei Ovchinnikov and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary (Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security) Ambassador Tahir Andrabi,.
They also discussed challenges associated with various regional alliances and partnerships. Both sides agreed to hold this dialogue on an annual basis. During his visit to Islamabad, Aleksei Ovchinnikov also called on Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary (Asia-Pacific) Imran Siddiqui and Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad Ambassador Sohail Mahmood.
Pakistan and the Russian Federation enjoy a cooperative bilateral relationship. Pakistan greatly values dialogue and diplomacy and remains committed to pursuing cooperative pathways that promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
