PAKISTAN’S NATIONAL BANK TO HAVE BRANCH IN BAKU
Head of State Bank Dr. Ishrat Hussain stated this. Dr. Hussain is a member of the official delegation headed by the Federal Petroleum Minister Nauraiz Shakoor Khan at the 2-day Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Ministerial Commission (JMIC) meeting.
The meeting was held to review the updated progress of JMC and explore ways and means to strengthen the economic and trade co-operation of two countries in 14 sectors.
He expressed optimism that once granted the license, a branch of National Bank of Pakistan will start functioning in the capital of Azerbaijan by the end of current year. Dr. Hussain said NBP branches were operating in five Central Asian States and with the opening of a new branch in Baku this will provide further impetus to the business community of the two countries.
He said the prospects were very bright for Pakistani entrepreneurs to sell their commodities in the oil rich Central Asian State and their business could be facilitated with the opening of the NBP branch in Baku.
