PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV ARRIVES AT BUILDING COLLAPSE SITE

ent of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today has arrived at the high-rise building collapse scene at the intersection of Murtuza Mukhtarov and Muhammad Nakhchivani streets in Yasamal district of Baku.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that housing high-rise building collapsed August 28 killing and injuring people working inside t
he building. The private cars near the building were damaged by the debris. Shortly after the accident, the employees of the Ministry for Emergencies, Baku Prosecutor’s Office, Baku Chief Police Department are using the heavy equipment to bring the survivors and the dead out from under the rubble. The Prosecutor’s Office of Baku has launched criminal proceedings under the article 222.1.2 and 222.2 of the Criminal Code and formed the investigation group. The management of the “Mutafakkir” LLC construction company has been apprehended, and witnesses are being interrogated. The injured were brought to the hospital.
The Head of State gave instructions to speed up rescue operations, investigate the causes of the accident, and provide assistance to the injured and families of the dead.
