PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV EXAMINES EQUIPMENT PURCHASED BY MINISTRY FOR EMERGENCIES

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today attended in the Azadlyg square a presentation ceremony of the equipment that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergencies has acquired to use in the emergency situations and disasters.
Minister for Emergencies Kamaleddin Heydarov told the Head of State that the state-of-the-art equipment purchased from abroad is designed for fire extinguishing, land-sea rescue operations. To date, 232 fire-fighting vehicles have been bought.
President Ilham Aliyev got familiar with the performance characteristics of all firefighting equipment.
Then, the Head of State watched simulated fire extinguishing and evacuation of the injured with the use of special equipment in the 9th and 6th floors of the Government Building, and saw the mobile hospital in the National Park. During disasters, such hospitals provide medical assistance to the injured and wounded.
Civil defense troops, firefighters, rescuers showcased their capabilities to extinguish fire in the oil tanks, traffic accidents and evacuate people from the building using special equipment.
President watched these exercises and got into the emergency helicopter and car designed for carrying top rescue personnel and saving people.
The Head of State saw special ships and helicopters extinguishing fire and evacuating people in the passenger and cargo ships, oil platforms and coastal facilities.
The President examined ultrasonic appliances to control import and usage of radioactive and explosive substances, modern diagnostic equipment to check before and after construction quality of buildings. This work is done by the Dadashev Research Institute of Building Materials. 264 buildings have been inspected this year.
President Ilham Aliyev inspected the mobile emergency control center, which has special communication equipment. Hummer, disaster response car, uses satellite to transmit video images from the site of accident. GPS, satellite-based navigation system, allows controlling the moving rescue equipment. This system was installed on the three fire-fighting vehicles. It will be installed on the emergency vehicles and rescue service ships.
President Ilham Aliyev praised the efforts of the Ministry’s personnel and gave respective recommendations and instructions to fully provide regional rescue centers with equipment and acquire up-to-date facilities.
