The factory was fully reconstructed and forty percent of its old equipment were replaced with the newer.
It purchases raw materials from Belgium and the Netherlands.
President Ilham Aliyev familiarized himself with the factory`s shops and viewed the production process.
He stressed the importance of the factory, and said the government will continue allocating funds for improving the Defense Industry Ministry`s facilities across the country.
Construction of Peyk was ordered in 1989 by the then USSR Ministry of Radioindustry, but it was halted when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
In 1993, Azerbaijan`s nationwide leader, late President Heydar Aliyev gave second life to the factory by restoring about 30-40 percent of its operations.
However, in 1996, Peyk completely stopped working.
Ten years later, President Ilham Aliyev ordered complete reconstruction of the factory in order to bring it in line with the world standards.
Today, Peyk has no analogues in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
