PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES AMBASSADORS OF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES IN BAKU
The president congratulated the Ambassadors on the Ramadan asking them to extend his congratulations and best wishes to the Heads of their sates and governments.
He in particular said: The holiday Ramadan has always lived in the Azerbaijani people’s hearts. However, this holiday has been celebrated in our country since Azerbaijan began to live as an independent state. After Azerbaijan regained its independence, our relations with Islamic countries began to develop intensively, and today we are successfully cooperating in all fields. We have always felt and are feeling now the support from the Islamic countries. We are successfully cooperating both in bilateral format and within the Organization of Islamic Conference. In particular, we have always felt and are feeling today, the Islamic countries’ support in the settlement of Azerbaijan’s most troubling problem, the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and are grateful to you for that.
Speaking on behalf of the Ambassadors was Doyen of the Islamic countries’ Ambassadors, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan, Ali Hasan Ahmad Jafar.
Thanking the President for finding time to receive the Ambassadors and congratulating him on the holy Ramadan, he wished this holy month to bring peace, calm and progress to the people of Azerbaijan.
Then, Mr. Ali Hasan Ahmad Jafar in particular said: Azerbaijan is situated in the very important geostrategic area of the South Caucasus that constitutes the basis for peace and stability in the region. Peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem in accordance with the international standards and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will create wide opportunities for a new economic cooperation in the region. Expressing once again our moral and political support to the right cause of Azerbaijan, we hope the process will find its peaceful solution in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and in accordance of the Azerbaijan’s interests.
In conclusion, the Ambassador reminded of the Islamic countries’ summit expected next month in Mecca, and expressed hope for the Azerbaijani leader’s participation in the event.
