PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES DELEGATION OF EUROPEAN VOLLEYBALL CONFEDERATION
On August 24, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received at the Presidential Palace the delegation of the European Volleyball Confederation led by its President Andre Meyer.
The President informed the guests on the intensive development of sports in Azerbaijan, and numerous world-class sport complexes recently constructed in the country.
Noting that his country is already experienced enough in hosting big international sporting events President Aliyev emphasized the importance of conducting here the first international volleyball tournament in memory of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
President of the European Volleyball Confederation Andre Meyer recalled his meeting with the Azerbaijani President during the Grand Prix tournament held in the town of Guba in 2005, noting Azerbaijan has really good possibilities for hosting major international tournaments.
He added he would be very pleased to attend the first international volleyball tournament in memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
