PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV’S ADDRESS
As was informed earlier, President Ilham Aliyev visited the south regions. On his arrival in Neftchala region, the Head of State addressed the public. He, in particular, said:
“I cordially greet all of you. I congratulate you on the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Museum”.
“Unfortunately, unpleasant processes that happened in the beginning of the 1990s caused huge damages to our country, including Neftchala. At that time, Azerbaijan actually lost its economic strength. Enterprises stopped operating, agriculture declined, and people’s living standards were worsening every day”.
“Unfortunately, the first years of independence were very difficult for Azerbaijan. And it resulted in the occupation of our lands and civil confrontation”.
“However, today, Azerbaijan is one of the rapidly developing countries in the world. Azerbaijan has today become a very important country on the international stage. We have become a leading country in the region. It is already a reality”.
“And we want Azerbaijan to become stronger… so that we were able to liberate our lands from occupants, and so that we were able to guarantee that Azerbaijani people live well.”
“Azerbaijan has no analogues in the world in economic growth rate, which we have achieved in three years. And it allows us to increase our budget as well. If we look at recent years` statistics, we can see that in three or four years our budget has increased from 1billion dollars to eight billion”.
“And it was the nationwide leader’s (Heydar Aliyev) oil strategy that strengthened us the most... this strategy, which successfully materialized, strengthened us both economically and politically”.
“Oil is our major treasure, and it will be many long years... We are using it to develop our country and to better our people`s well being”.
“This is the leading sector in our economy. But what we want is to develop other sectors of economy - to develop agriculture, to strengthen Azerbaijan`s industrial potential, to create new enterprises and to provide people with jobs”.
“As you know, we have recently allocated funds for Neftchala`s development. And those funds were spent on creating new parks and laying new roads. And there will be no problems in allocating new funds in future. Today, Azerbaijan`s economic strength allows us to solve any task we want”.
“I believe that in the years to come we will achieve what we want thanks to the deepening of this consistent policy and economic reforms”
“I want Azerbaijan to become one of the countries that have developed in the true sense of the word. I want that people live well, children go to good schools, the afflicted get good medical service, roads be developed and cities become more beautiful, as well as people smile and Azerbaijan go forward. These are my desires.”
“And I am sure you also share these desires. We will continue working together for Azerbaijan`s development, we will do everything possible and we will turn Azerbaijan into a strong country. Thank you”.
