PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN RECEIVES PARTICIPANTS OF IAACA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE’S MEETING
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received the participants of the Baku meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities` (IAACA) Executive Committee.
The Head of State highly assessed the fact that Azerbaijan is represented in the Executive Committee of the IAACA, which affiliates over 130 countries. Azerbaijani Leader said he is hopeful that Baku meeting of the Executive Committee would successful. According to President Aliyev, Azerbaijan has adopted the anti-corruption law and state program in 2004, thus, creating a solid basis in this field.
The Head of State stressed that Azerbaijan is taking administrative measures to fight corruption with no discrimination allowed in combat against corruption. Azerbaijan successfully continues cooperation in this field as the country joined the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. The State Oil Fund has won the UN Public Service Award for successes in this field. Last years, the President noted, level of corruption in the country has downsized. Meanwhile, the private sector`s share in economy has raised and now makes up 80 percent, the President said. The Head of State noted that the poverty level has reduced from 49 percent to 16 percent.
Mr. Jia Chunwang, President of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities, Ex-Head of China`s Supreme People`s Procuratorate, expressed gratitude for receiving them. He, in particular, expressed pleasure with the accomplishments Azerbaijan achieved under guidance of President Ilham Aliyev.
