Putin does not rule out meeting with Zelenskyy

Baku, June 19, AZERTAC
“Russia is ready for comprehensive talks with Ukraine,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with heads of the world’s leading news agencies on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
He expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for providing a platform for negotiations and supporting peace initiatives.
Putin noted that contacts between Russian and Ukrainian delegations continue, with the next meeting potentially taking place after June 22. He highlighted the efforts of the Turkish side, emphasizing that President Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan are working diligently to achieve a settlement.
The Russian leader did not rule out a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy but expressed doubts about who would be authorized to sign any possible agreements in Kyiv. Putin also addressed humanitarian aspects of the conflict, including the return of the bodies of the deceased.
He expressed hope for a constructive role from China, India, and other BRICS countries, noting their genuine interest in resolving the conflict peacefully.
“We also want to end this conflict as soon as possible. Of course, it would be best if this happens through peaceful means,” said the Russian President.
