Riga marks national leader Heydar Aliyev`s 90th anniversary
Riga, May 11 (AZERTAC). Latvia`s Riga city has hosted a celebrative event in memory of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar ALiyev`s 90th anniversary. The event has brought together members of Latvian Seim, Azerbaijani MPs Elton Mammadov and Ali Masimli, businessmen, diaspora representatives and journalists.
The event started with performance of Azerbaijani and Latvian national anthems.
Speakers at the event informed about the national leader`s role in development of Azerbaijani economy.
Latvian MP and head of newly established “Araz” organization Romans Naudins highlighted the special place of Heydar Aliyev in strengthening Azerbaijan`s global position.
Delivering a speech at the event, Azerbaijani MP Elton Mammadov said that a significant period of Azerbaijan`s history was directly linked with the name of Heydar Aliyev. Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mamamdov underlined Heydar Aliyev`s role in introducing Azerbaijan`s realities to the world.
Azerbaijani ambassador to Latvia Elman Zeynalov said that due to Heydar Aliyev`s political activity Azerbaijan had become the strongest country in the South Caucasus.
The event featured demonstration a documentary on Heydar Aliyev`s life and activity.
