“Russian-Azerbaijani energy partnership is developing on rise” deputy Azerbaijani ambassador
Baku, May 15 (AZERTAC). “The Russian-Azerbaijani energy partnership is developing on the rise and meets the strategic interests of both countries” said deputy ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Gudsi Osmanov, who addressed a gas conference held as a part of the 3rd International Gas Forum in Saint Petersburg.
The gas forum brought together specialists to discuss the key issues of development of the gas and oil sector, including the introduction of innovations and provision of the sector with cadres.
The diplomat spoke about the history of the development and formation of the Azerbaijani gas industry and the role of Azerbaijani oil workers in exploring of new Russian gas fields.
He also noted that the development of the gas industry in Azerbaijan during the Soviet period was personally supervised by national leader Heydar Aliyev, who made significant strides in transforming this industry into a leading in the country. After independence, Azerbaijan`s oil and gas industry entered a new epoch and develops with no less dynamic pace.
Osmanov also touched on the Russian-Azerbaijani relations. He stressed that under the leadership of the two countries` presidents Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, a variety of activities were held to promote closer cooperation in many areas. He also quoted the words of President Ilham Aliyev that “today the Russian-Azerbaijani relations are based on principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and are of a strategic nature”.
