RUSSIAN POLITICIANS DO NOT DOUBT IN LEGITIMACY OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
The Ministry also mentions - based on the assessments by about 300 Russian observers within the international observation mission – that although there were some irregularities during the elections, “they could not affect the election results and their scale did not allow putting a question on legitimacy of the results and conformity of the elections with conventional standards”.
Many politicians in Russia share this assessment. According to the chairman of State Duma Committee on the International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev though estimations of the international observers are a little different, none of them cast doubt on legitimacy of the elections. “Some roughness still should be removed, and apparently, the Azerbaijani authorities take care of this. So, elections have taken place, and there is no occasion for doubts in its results”. According to Mr. Kosachev, now completely destructive are represented the attempts of opposition to invalidate present results of voting by calling the people to streets.
And the member of State Duma Committee on Safety Nikolay Leonov has declared that it is confident that there will not be any “orange revolution” in Azerbaijan. The West will also not allow such a revolution, will not support it. Now Azerbaijan, in my opinion, is playing a great role in the West’s plans as the BTC MEP has been started, and, certainly, Azerbaijan will attract still more foreign investments.
