SEARCH FOR BUILDING COLLAPSE SURVIVORS CONTINUES
Rescue work is continuing for people who may still be trapped under the debris of an under-construction building which collapsed in Baku on Tuesday.
“A sufficient number of heavy equipment and emergency workers have been involved in rescue operation”, chief of the rescue service at the ministry of emergency situations, Jahangir Gulamov, said during a brief interview with journalists at the collapse site.
Gulamov said rescuers have pulled eleven bodies and three injured out from under the ruins since the collapse.
“Rescue teams are working very carefully as there may still be people trapped under the wreckage. But unfortunately, some accuse us of working slowly. We are working in accordance with international standards which say that the probability of remaining alive under the debris is 72 hours. And we have been working at the site for 48 hours”, Gulamov said.
He also added that investigatory powers are dealing with identifying people pulled out from under the rubble.
