SECOND NATIONAL SEMINAR ON BIOLOGICAL VARIETY
Opening the seminar, National Coordinator of the Strategy of Biological Variety and Plan of Actions project Zeynal Akperov said that it is being held according to the Convention on biological variety signed in 1992 by 156 states and European Union within the framework of the UN Development Program. A continuous and aimed work is being done in the republic under leadership of Academician Jalal Aliyev. The aim is in determination of tasks and intentions of strategy on biological variety in Azerbaijan basing on offers of the Ministries of Agriculture, Ecology and Natural Resources, Education and other committees and boards, scientific centers, science-research instituted and representatives of NGOs.
Representative of the Fund of global ecology Gabriel Labbat made speech informing on activities of the fund.
During the seminar, held by representatives of the International organization of flora and fauna, they analyzed correspondence of offers and the above-mentioned convention, the ways of preservation and multiplying of biological variety discussed.
