SEMINAR HELD FOR EMPLOYEES OF AZERBAIJAN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT
The seminar was held Thursday in Baku for employees of the Constitutional Court with the attendance of OSCE`s experts.
The event was opened by Head of the Administration of Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court Arif Zeynalov who spoke about the goal of the seminar.
He touched upon the Constitutional Court`s cooperation with international courts and OSCE`s Baku Office.
Zeynalov noted that after Azerbaijan`s gaining membership of the Council of Europe, the country joined the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
He stressed that Azerbaijani Constitutional Court always shows interest in a precedent of the European Court.
Addressing the seminar, an OSCE expert Anna Gielen spoke of resolutions on Azerbaijan and ways of applying to courts under the regulations of the European Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedom.
On the sidelines of the seminar, Gielen met with Farhad Abdullayev, President of the Constitutional Court of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Abdullayev informed the expert about the Constitutional Court, and said Azerbaijan carried out huge number of democratic reforms since gaining independence.
He noted close relations between the Constitutional Court and the OSCE Baku Office.
The OSCE expert welcomed the level of cooperation between Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court and the European Human Rights Court.
She also praised Azerbaijan`s joining international conventions.
