SLOVENIAN PRESIDENT EXPRESSES HIS COUNTRY’S INTEREST IN DEVELOPING RELATIONS WITH AZERBAIJAN
Newly elected Slovenian President Danilo Turk expressed his country’s interest in developing relations with Azerbaijan during a conversation with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Slovenia and Slovakia Fuad Ismayilov, which took place after Turk’s inauguration ceremony in Ljubljana on Saturday.
Filed as an independent candidate for the October, 2007 presidential elections, Danilo Turk won the run-off in November with 69.2 percent of votes.
He served as the first Slovenian Permanent Representative to the United Nations between 1992 and 2000, and as UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs from 2002 to 2005.
