Solemn reception in Germany marks Azerbaijan’s Independence Day

An official reception marking 28 May – Independence Day of Azerbaijan was held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany. The event was also dedicated to the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” in Azerbaijan.
Hosted at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Berlin, the reception was attended by more than 400 guests, including high-ranking reps of several German government agencies, members of the German Bundestag, ambassadors of foreign countries, media representatives, scientists and cultural figures, as well as members of Azerbaijani, Turkish and other other communities living in Germany.
The event began with the performance of the national anthems of both countries.
In his remarks, Nasimi Aghayev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany, described the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), established in 1918 in a complex socio-political environment, as one of the most glorious pages in the history of the country’s statehood. The diplomat mentioned that the ADR, which was established as the first parliamentary republic in the Muslim world and implemented progressive reforms during its 23 months of its existence, was a demonstration of our people's determination for freedom and independence.
Ambassador Nasimi Aghayev highlighted the glorious Victory achieved by Azerbaijan in 2020 and the full restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty in 2023, noting that the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts are underway in the liberated territories.
Touching upon Azerbaijani-German relations, Nasimi Aghayev hailed the strengthened political dialogue and the succesful development of cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Michael Reiffenstuel, Director for South-Eastern Europe, Türkiye, EFTA States, OSCE and Council of Europe in the German Federal Foreign Office, conveyed the congratulations of German Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day of Azerbaijan.
Following the remarks, the "Caucasus" musical ensemble performed an exciting program. In conclusion, videos were screened highlighting Azerbaijan’s charming nature and famous landmarks.
