SPEAKER OF AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT MEETS CHAIRMAN OF EGYPT-AZERBAIJAN INTERPARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP
Speaker of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Ogtay Asadov today has met with the delegation led by Chairman of Egypt-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group at the People`s Assembly of Egypt Ahmad Omar Hashim.
Mr. Asadov underlined that such visits help to develop relations between the two countries. Negotiations held between the two countries` heads and signed documents created legal basis for widening ties, said Mr. Asadov. Speaker noted that Azerbaijan is keen on cooperation with Egypt in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Mr. Asadov told of significance of interparliamentary relations, activity of friendship groups of both countries in legislative bodies, MPs` cooperation with UN, Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and other international organizations.
Today, Azerbaijan`s sore point is Nagorno Karabakh conflict, said Mr. Asadov. Speaker emphasized that OIC‘s resolutions adopted on the conflict are coincided with Azerbaijan`s stand. We believe that problem will be soon solved in the framework of the international norms and principles to provide security in the region, added Mr. Asadov.
Mr. Hashim, in his turn, expressed his satisfaction with the meetings held in Azerbaijan and achievements of the country. The guest stressed that Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Egypt gave impulse to developing ties in various spheres. He highly valued creation of interparliamentary friendship groups between the two countries. Mr. Hashim emphasized that Egypt supports Azerbaijan`s fair cause in Nagorno Karabakh resolution.
Members of Azerbaijan-Egypt Interparliamentary Friendship Group and other officials were present at the meeting.
