SPEAKER OF AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT MEETS PRIME MINISTER OF BULGARIA
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov met Monday Prime Minister of Bulgaria Sergey Stanishev, now visiting Azerbaijan.
Mr. Asadov said after regaining independence, the country has developed relations with all countries, including Bulgaria. According to him, the documents signed by Presidents of the two countries during their reciprocal visits, have created legal basis to promote relations. He expressed hope that the visit by Prime Minister would also contribute to development of relations.
Stressing the importance of expansion of Inter-parliamentary ties, Ogtay Asadov reminded that the Azerbaijan Parliament has a Bulgarian friendship group.
Speaking about the country’s economic progress, Mr. Asadov said the transnational energy projects, initiated by Azerbaijan, are of great importance for Europe’s energy security.
Parliament Speaker also gave detailed information about Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister, for his turn, said his country is keen on development of relations with Azerbaijan. Stanishev added that due to efforts of the Presidents, relations between the two countries have been boosted. He went on to say that the parliaments should use this to deepen the relations. According to him, development of Inter-parliamentary relations positively impacts on expansion of ties as well as in other fields.
Bulgarian Prime Minister stressed the importance of mutual visits by parliament friendship groups.
