SPEAKER OF AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT VISITS FRANCE
The delegation of Azerbaijan led by Chairman of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament)Ogtay Asadov has arrived with three-day working visit to France on the invitation of Mr. Christian Poncelet, Senate President of French Republic.
At the meeting on 30 October at the Senate building, Mr. Christian Poncelet has reminded his meetings with the national leader Heydar Aliyev, noting the development of the French-Azeri wide cooperation founded by the national leader. He especially emphasized, that the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev became the beginning of a new stage in the field of friendly relations between two countries. President of the Senate has told, that they with impatience expect in the near future visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to France.
Speaking about economic relations between Azerbaijan and France, Ch. Poncelet has noted, that political stability plays the important role in their development and highly estimated the role of Azerbaijan in protection of stability on the entire Caucasus. He also emphasized, that the mutual investments for realization of the certain projects will have special value form the point of view of development of economic interaction between the two countries.
Mr. Christian Poncelet noted, that the great value is given to transportation by Azerbaijan possessing rich oil and gas deposits, energy carriers to the Europe, including to France.
President of the Senate has concerned the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, especially emphasizing efforts of France, being one of co-chairmen of the Minsk group of OSCE, for peace settlement of the problem.
Chairman of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov noted dynamical development of the economy of Azerbaijan, growth for last year volume of GDP in the Republic for 34-35 percent and owing to it appreciable improvement of social status of the population. He told, that under leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, very important projects are being realized, and country’s international authority is raised and created all conditions for development of entrepreneurship.
Chairman of Milli Majlis ascertained, that as a result of aggression of Armenia, 20 percent of the county’s territories were occupied and more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. They have been settled in cars and tent camps.
Ogtay Asadov told, that Azerbaijan gives great importance to development of all-round ties with France and expressed hope, that France, one of co-chairmen of the Minsk group, would put special efforts for quick solution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the framework of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament had a number of meetings with the heads of Senate Committees, exchange views on issues of cooperation between the two countries and discussed further development of inter-parliamentary relations.
