Speaker of Milli Majlis meets with King of Bahrain

During her official visit to Bahrain, Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the King of Bahrain. King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked the Speaker to relay his own greetings to the President of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the King of Bahrain praised Azerbaijan's development and expressed strong interest in deepening bilateral ties. He emphasized the positive role of interparliamentary cooperation in fostering relations between the two countries.
Highlighting fruitful Azerbaijani-Bahraini relations, which are built on friendship, mutual trust and respect, Sahiba Gafarova underscored that the existing political relations between the countries create broad opportunities for cooperation in other areas, including the economy, investment and tourism. She recalled that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Bahrain.
During the meeting, both sides hailed the mutual support of the two friendly countries within international organizations.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that this visit is the first official visit of the Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament to the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that reciprocal visits by parliamentary speakers, as well as members of parliament, and close contacts contribute to the further deepening of relations between the legislative bodies. She further provided information about the meetings she held during the visit and the cooperation issues between the parliaments.
