SWITZERLAND KEEN IN DEVELOPMENT OF ALL-ROUND CO-OP WITH AZERBAIJAN
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov Wednesday met with head of the Baku office of the embassy of Switzerland Allen Gudetti.
Noting that Azerbaijan gives importance to cooperation with Switzerland, one of the first countries to recognize state independence of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadov said such meetings promote expansion of cooperation. “I am convinced soon Switzerland will open its embassy in Azerbaijan”, he said. At his words, the two countries have signed about 10 documents. Azerbaijan is keen in deepening economic cooperation with Switzerland in the political, economic and humanitarian fields, the Speaker stressed. “There is great potential for that. Parliamentary ties would also encourage these relations, as we have created a working group on Azeri-Swiss parliament relations”, Mr. Asadov emphasized.
In the meeting, Speaker of the Azerbaijan Parliament expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit of Ms. Christine Egerszegi-Obrist, President of the National Council of Switzerland, in early November to Azerbaijan, will create important ground for development of cooperation. As stated, for that purpose, reciprocal visits of parliament delegations are of great importance, too.
The Swiss guest expressed gratitude for hospitality, noting his country is interested in co-op with Azerbaijan. Deepening of the parliament ties is demand of the time, he underlined.
