Tashkent hosts the International Climate Forum

The Green University – Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies hosted a discussion on current issues of water resources management, according to UZA.
The international event, organized by the Hydrometeorological Research Institute in collaboration with the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the Agency for Innovative Development within the framework of the BLUE project, was devoted to innovative solutions for the rational use of water.
The main topics were increasing water-use efficiency in the Aral Sea basin, assessing the impact of salinization on agriculture and the livelihoods of the population, and developing climate-adapted technologies.
The experts discussed the prospects for advancing scientific developments in water resources management in the context of climate change.
In his speech, the Rector of Green University, Professor Bakhtiyor Pulatov, stressed the importance of scientifically grounded, climate-adapted approaches to addressing water scarcity, land degradation, and soil salinization. He also noted that international cooperation within the SATREPS and BLUE programs plays a significant role in the practical application of scientific developments.
Issues of real-time solar radiation monitoring, drought detection and tracking, dust storm analysis systems based on terrestrial and satellite data, and a water resources management strategy in the Aral Sea basin were discussed at the event.
In addition, the results of the BLUE project were analyzed, and priority areas for future research were identified.
Following the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Association of Agribusiness of Uzbekistan and the Hydrometeorological Research Institute.
