THE PRESIDENTS TALK IN PRESENCE OF TWO COUNTRIES’ DELEGATIONS
After the one-on-one meeting, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran were joined by members of the two countries’ official delegations.
President Ilham Aliyev said: “We attach great importance to your visit. We are convinced that this visit will raise our bilateral relations to a higher level, and bring the two friendly and brotherly nations even closer together”.
“Our relationships have been strengthening and expanding in political, economic and cultural fields opening new horizons for Azerbaijan-Iran cooperation.”
“We have just discussed one-on-one a wide range of issues, it was a fruitful work, and have made sure that our relations are very friendly, and share common approach to all issues.”
“I am hopeful that today’s talks and the documents to be signed will create good opportunities to solve existing tasks.”
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said: “I am so happy to be here with you and the friendly and brotherly people of Azerbaijan, and I am thanking the Most High for this opportunity.”
“As you have mentioned, we are two brotherly nations sharing common culture, language and history. These relations have been deepening since the Azerbaijan Republic gained its independence. Development of these relations means development of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Development of Iran may be regarded as that of Azerbaijan. That is why, we are so pleased with Azerbaijan’s independence, the level of its development and security.”
“Both in the region and at the international level, we are cooperating to develop our bilateral relations in accordance with our common interests.”
“Our relations are on a high level in all fields. But our potential is huge, and effective use of this potential would meet interests of both countries.”
“I would like to stress once again that we have no intention to impose any restrictions on our relations with the friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan.”
The talks also covered a number of other issues of mutual concern.
