TRILATERAL TALKS ON GABALA START IN BAKU

Azerbaijan, the United States of America and Russia started Tuesday trilateral talks on Gabala radar station in Baku.

A six-man US delegation in Baku is led by deputy director of the Missile Defense Agency, Brigadier General Patrick O`Reilly, while Russia`s delegation is led by Space Troops` deputy chief of staff, General Alexander Yakushin.

Before heading to Azerbaijan, Yakushin said that the Gabala station can be used jointly and only as an alternative to US plans to deploy missile defense systems in Eastern Europe.

Azerbaijan`s delegation includes experts of ministries of foreign affairs, national security and defense, and national academy of sciences.

Built by the Soviet Union in 1985, the Gabala station is now leased by Russia until 2012.
