TURKISH PREMIER PHONES US PRESIDENT G. W. BUSH
The Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan phoned to the U.S. President George W. Bush, October 5, AZERTAC Ankara-based correspondent reported.
During their phone conversation, head of the Turkish Government and President Bush exchanged views around the discussions of the so-called “Armenian genocide” claims by US Congress, Mr. Erdogan noted the possible damage the resolution could cause to bilateral relations. The mentioned document does not serve interests of Turkey and the United States, the Turkish Premier underlined, adding that it could increase tension between Ankara and Yerevan.
Mr. George Bush stated he would make resolute efforts to prevent passing of this resolution of Congress, and expressed his concerns, too, in connection with the resolution.
