TURKISH PRESIDENT ABDULLAH GUL MAKES HIS FIRST FOREIGN TRIP – TO AZERBAIJAN
President of Turkey Abdullah Gul has today arrived in Azerbaijan for a three-day official visit. It is Gul’s first foreign trip as the President of Turkey.
President Gul will begin his trip by visiting Heydar Aliyev’s tomb in the Alley of Honors and Martyrs’ Alley. Following the official welcoming ceremony in the Presidential Palace, the Turkish leader will meet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in private and in the presence of the two countries’ delegations. After signing a number of documents on cooperation between both countries in a variety of fields, the Heads of State will hold a joint press conference. Later the same day, President Gul will visit the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The itinerary on the second day includes meetings with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov and speaking at the Milli Majlis. Gul is scheduled to participate in the Azerbaijan-Turkey business forum. Some 200 Turkish businessmen have arrived in Azerbaijan together with President Gul.
Later the same day, Abdullah Gul will receive the Baku State University’s honorary doctor title. He will attend the ceremony of laying a foundation stone of the Caucasus University’s new building.
On the last day, President Gull will take a trip to Ganja to hold some meetings there and visit historical monuments.
