United Arab Emirates President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Islamabad on Friday for an official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The UAE President is accompanied by a high-level delegation. This marks his first official visit to Pakistan since assuming office as President of the UAE.
The President was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, along with cabinet ministers and senior government officials. As the aircraft carrying the UAE President entered Pakistani airspace, it was escorted by a formation of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets as a gesture of welcome and respect.
Upon arrival in the capital, an official reception was held for the visiting dignitary, during which the national anthems of the UAE and Pakistan were played. Children dressed in traditional attire welcomed President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan while holding the national flags of Pakistan and the UAE.
The President was also presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces. A 21-gun salute was fired in his honour.
During the visit, the UAE President will review the full spectrum of bilateral relations with Pakistan’s leadership and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Pakistan and the UAE share close diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, strengthened by historical connections and a large Pakistani expatriate community residing in the UAE.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit provides an important opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is also one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners.
