United Nations Secretary-General holds phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, to discuss issues related to international peace and security.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister received the call from the UN Secretary-General last night. As Pakistan currently holds the Presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of July, Senator Dar reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to international peace and security, as well as to the peaceful settlement of disputes.
Senator Dar also briefed the Secretary-General on the Signature Events being organized by Pakistan during its Presidency of the Security Council to further these objectives.
A statement issued by the Pakistani government in Islamabad noted that both leaders look forward to engaging in person in New York next week during activities related to Pakistan’s UNSC Presidency.
The Deputy Prime Minister additionally reiterated Pakistan’s continued support and commitment to facilitating the United Nations and its personnel in effectively carrying out their mandate.
