United States delivers additional flood relief to Pakistan

The United States has delivered another shipment of flood relief assistance to Pakistan following catastrophic flooding in the country.
In a statement, the U.S. State Department said it stands with the people of Pakistan, whose lives have been disrupted by widespread flooding. Food, shelter, and other lifesaving aid are being provided to affected communities, and the U.S. military has delivered essential supplies to the Pakistan Army.
U.S. Mission to Pakistan Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker was present at the air base for the arrival of the first C-17 and C-130 aircraft. She extended her condolences to the people of Pakistan, expressing sorrow over the loss of life and the destruction of homes and livelihoods.
“In response to a request from the Government of Pakistan, the Department of State and U.S. military approved foreign assistance funding and critical supplies to support national response efforts in the hardest-hit areas,” Baker said.
The floods have displaced millions of people, primarily in Punjab province, and destroyed homes and farmland. Official figures report over 100 deaths in Punjab and more than 900 nationwide, with 4,700 villages inundated and 4.57 million people affected.
