US ENVOY IN AZERBAIJAN VISITS NAKHCHIVAN
Ambassador of the United State of America in Baku Anne Derse visited the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan on Thursday.
The US envoy first met with Nakhchivan`s Prime Minister Alovsat Bakhshiyev.
Derse familiarized herself with the Law Clinic and a conservatory at the Nakhchivan State University.
Afterwards, she gave a speech in Azerbaijani at the Nakhchivan Private University, and had her photo taken together with its students.
The US ambassador then officially opened the “regional library information center” at the Nakhchivan library after M. Ordubadli.
In a briefing dedicated to her visit to Nakhchivan, Anne Derse said she took a responsibility to establish relations with the Autonomous Republic.
She said she was amazed to see historic monuments in Nakhchivan, and added she would come here again.
Derse also touched upon the exhibition titled “Armenian monuments” in Nakhchivan which was organized by Armenian employees at the Harvard University, and stressed that this does not reflect the United States` official stance.
The Ambassador added the USA supports peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh within the OSCE Minsk Group.
