US GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES EDMUND MUSKIE GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
IREX country director for Azerbaijan Andrea Kalan told a briefing Friday at the American Center that Edmund Muskie Fellowship Program will select 15 citizens from Azerbaijan for master’s level study in the USA this year.
She said that Edmund Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State, and administered by IREX.
The program provides opportunities for graduate students and professionals from Azerbaijan for one-year non-degree, one-year degree or two-year degree study in the United States. To further build fellows’ professional skills and expose them to the principles of community service and social responsibility in the United States, fellows will also be required to participate in a volunteer project related to their professional interests during the first academic year. Internships provide an essential opportunity for fellows to gain professional experience and skills, which they can directly apply to their future careers in their home countries. Fellows will conduct a full-time internship during the summer following their first academic year.
For the past 15 years, about 300 Azerbaijan nationals were awarded Muskie fellowships.
