US TV Channel features Azeri ambassador Elin Suleymanov
Washington, June 18 (AZERTAC). Platts Energy Week, talk program of the Washington-based WUSA9 TV channel, has featured Azerbaijani ambassador to the US Elin Suleymanov who was interviewed by host Bill Loveless.
Suleymanov noted that not only does Azerbaijan seeks to compete with other oil and gas exporters but also the country promotes diversification of energy supplies to the world markets. Asked about the choice of between Nabucco West and Trans Adriatic gas pipeline, which will link up with the transanatolian gas pipeline as part of the regional South gas corridor, the diplomat said that the final decision of the leading companies will be based on three pivotal aspects - technical, legal and commercial.
Suleymanov underlined the role of the US administration, in particular, former presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush in implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, noting Azerbaijan hopes the US will continue its active support. The ambassador pointed out that this support has been evident in recent years.
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of the US Department of State Carlos Pasqual have already made statements in support of the South gas pipeline.
The diplomat underlined the role of such oil majors as BP, ExxonMobil, Statoil in development of the oil industry in Azerbaijan, adding the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan goes international and begins to contribute to development of other countries.
