Victory Day celebrated in Strasbourg
Strasbourg, November 9, AZERTAC
A ceremonial event dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War was held in Strasbourg, organized by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe.
The event, attended by compatriots living in Strasbourg and surrounding areas, began with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and a minute of silence to honor the dear memory of our martyrs.
Permanent Representative, Ambassador Fakhraddin Ismayilov, stated that the glorious victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War is an eternal symbol of the national strength and unity of the Azerbaijani people. Recalling that the nearly 30-year occupation period tested the nation’s resilience, he noted that the injustices and suffering endured could not break the will of the people or shake their desire and belief in returning to their occupied lands, including Karabakh.
The Permanent Representative emphasized that in the 44-day Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020, the resolute leadership and determination of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the unparalleled heroism of Azerbaijan’s valiant Army, the sacrifices of our martyrs, and the unwavering unity and solidarity of the people put an end to the occupation and injustice. Ambassador Ismayilov added that in September 2023, under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, our dedicated armed forces demonstrated heroism once again, putting a definitive end to Armenian separatism in Azerbaijani territories.
The Ambassador also provided information on the extensive reconstruction work carried out by the state in Karabakh and East Zangezur over the past five years, noting that thousands of former internally displaced persons have returned to their native lands, with over 60,000 compatriots now living, working, and studying in the liberated territories.
A musical program prepared by Azerbaijani musician Kamran Garalov was presented, and videos dedicated to Victory Day were shown throughout the event.
