Washington hosts Day of Flowers

Baku, May 7 (AZERTAC). Washington has hosted a celebrative event organized by the Azerbaijani-American Alliance (AAA) to mark Day of Flowers.

The event, which brought together government officials, students and diaspora representatives, started with the performance of Silk Road dance group.

Opening the event, AAA Chairman and Congressman Dan Burton spoke about the history of the holiday. He noted that the holiday was marked on the birthday of national leader Heydar Aliyev. He also stressed the significance of the celebrative event in terms of introducing Azerbaijan`s culture to American society.

Azerbaijani ambassador Elin Suleymanov highlighted the role of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan`s history.
