11 killed, 27 injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan
Baku, July 2, AZERTAC
At least 11 people were killed and 27 others injured in separate rain-related incidents across Pakistan as heavy monsoon rains, thunderstorms and strong winds battered several regions, Xinhua reported.
In the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 6 people, including a woman and three children, were killed and 19 others injured in lightning strikes, flash floods, wall collapses and wind-related incidents, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The rains also damaged 38 houses, including two completely destroyed homes.
In the eastern Punjab province, 2 children were killed and 3 others injured after a wall collapsed in Attock district, while in the southwest Balochistan province, 3 people, including a woman and children, lost their lives and 5 others were injured when strong winds caused the roof of a house to collapse in Zhob district, Rescue authorities said.
Authorities have warned of more rainfall in the coming days and urged residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures against flash floods, landslides and other rain-related hazards.
