16th ANNUAL MEETING OF EBRD HELD IN KAZAN
The meeting gathered over 2,000 participants including government ministers, CEOs, investors, representatives of international financial organizations and NGOs.
Azerbaijan`s delegation was led by Minister of Economic development Heydar Babayev, the EBRD Governor for Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani delegation held bilateral meetings with representatives of international financial organizations as well as with delegations of countries supporting Azerbaijan`s moves towards joining the World Trade Organization.
During the delegation`s meeting with EBRD President Jean Lemierre, the Bank`s activity in Azerbaijan was very highly praised.
The EBRD officials also said that they are interested in sponsoring the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, and that EBRD Vice President Varel Freeman will visit Azerbaijan next month to sign a relevant memorandum of understanding.
At a country presentation ceremony for Azerbaijan, the participants closer familiarized themselves with the country`s economy and business environment.
Heydar Babayev also attended a meeting of the EBRD Council of Directors, where he spoke of his country`s recent economic progress.
