2ND MEETING OF AZERBAIJAN-KOREA ECONOMIC COOPERATION COMMISSION SUMMARIZED
The Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan summed up the 2nd meeting of the Azerbaijan-Korea Economic Cooperation Commission on August 28.
Deputy Economic Development Minister Mikail Jabbarov thanked all those involved in the conference. He said the Government of Azerbaijan welcomes the meetings and discussions held for the past two days in the committees on trade and investment, industry and energy resources, communication and information technologies, and agriculture. He said the relevant protocols on the results of discussions were signed. A number of joint projects in the energy and non-oil sectors were discussed. The Government of Azerbaijan highly assesses existing opportunities for cooperation and is ready to support businesspersons in this cause, M. Jabbarov added.
Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy of Korea Lee Jae-Hoon said that 40 projects have been discussed since the first meeting held 16 months ago. There were no obstacles for implementing them, and the cooperation has been developing rapidly. According to him, trade turnover between the two countries made up $370 million, up from $47 million in 2006.
Speaker said world famous Korean companies opened their offices in Azerbaijan. Deputy Minister welcomed the discussions that have been held in the committees for two days, notably on cooperation of SMEs, establishment of industrial parks and agriculture.
“I am confident that discussions will lead to concrete results. Our major project is the E-government project. We are ready to fully support it, bring information technologies to more developed condition, conduct staff training in this sphere,” he said.
Korean representative also told of his country’s capabilities in the energy sector.
