Baku, February 11, AZERTAC
An official reception marking the 47th victory anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution was held at Iran’s Embassy in Baku on February 10.
The event opened with the playing of the National Anthems of both countries.
Addressing the gathering, Mojtaba Demirchilou, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, underscored the importance Iran attaches to developing bilateral relations with Azerbaijan. He noted that these relations are grounded in shared history, cultural, religious, and linguistic proximity, as well as kinship ties, and are shaped by mutual respect, good neighborliness, and common interests.
The ambassador also highlighted that this year marks the 34th anniversary of Iran’s recognition of Azerbaijan’s independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He recalled that Iran was among the first states to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence in December 1991, and that the opening of its Embassy in Baku in March 1992 contributed to the development of bilateral ties on a solid institutional basis.
Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized the crucial role of the political will demonstrated by the presidents of both countries in strengthening bilateral relations. He also noted the successful cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, infrastructure, and communications, particularly highlighting projects of strategic significance, such as the International North-South Transport Corridor and the East Zangezur–Nakhchivan project.
