4th CIS AND BALTIC STATES BOND CONGRESS STARTS IN BAKU
The fourth CIS and Baltic States Bond Congress started Thursday at the “Park Inn Azerbaijan” Hotel in Baku.
The Congress is organized by Russian financial information agency, Cbonds, and gathers about 300 representatives of banks, investment companies, issuers and institutional investors.
Main issue on the agenda is problems and prospects of CIS bond market, including investments attractiveness.
Opening the event, head of Cbonds Sergey Lyalin said the fact the congress is being held in Baku is the demonstration of Azerbaijan`s huge economic progress.
Azerbaijan`s minister of economic development Heydar Babayev informed the participants about his country`s economic reforms.
He said the development of energy sector in Azerbaijan has led to tangible progress in other areas as well.
The minister said that for the last three years Azerbaijan has had the highest GDP growth rate record not only in the CIS, but also in the world.
Heydar Babayev noted Azerbaijan is effectively cooperating with international economic and financial organizations.
The minister stressed his country has a favorable investment climate.
Mr. Babayev also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh, saying it seriously impedes his country`s development.
Other speakers addressed the event on bond market in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The Congress will continue on Friday.
