87 killed, 333 injured by landmines, explosive remnants in Afghanistan in 2025

At least 87 people have been killed and 333 others injured due to landmine and explosive remnants blasts in 2025 across the country, Xinhua reported citing the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority.
A total of 193 explosion incidents resulting from mine detonations and unexploded ordnance have been recorded across Afghanistan over the past year, said Hafiz Mohammad Yusuf Hammad, spokesman for the authority.
The report underscores Afghanistan's status as one of the world's most severely affected nations by explosive remnants of war. The United Nations recently ranked the country third globally for casualties caused by landmines and unexploded ordnance.
