AFGHAN FOREIGN MINISTER VISITS UZBEKISTAN
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Abdulla Abdulla paid an official visit to Uzbekistan, AzerTAj correspondent reports. During a joint press conference following his meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Sadyg Safayev he in particular said: future of our country depends on relations with our neighbors. We are trying to restore the Great Silk Road. Afghanistan is striving for being a transit state between the Central Asia and Persian Gulf, and has a concern in implementation of various projects in this direction.
Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan S. Safayev noted for his part that Uzbekistan considers Afghanistan as an integral part of the region. He advanced the initiative to create trans-afghan corridor connecting the Central Asian countries with those of Persian Gulf.
The Afghan delegation also met with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shovkat Mirziyayev to discuss the prospects of bilateral relationship and involvement of Uzbek companies in revival of the economy of Afghanistan.
The negotiations ended with signing a number of bilateral documents.
