“AGO” GROUP ARRIVES IN BAKU

As a part of their regional tour, the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers “AGO” Monitoring Group for Azerbaijan and Armenia arrived in Baku July 4, Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry reported.

The Group led by Swedish ambassador to the Council of Europe Per Sjogren is comprised of representatives of Germany, France, Latvia, Romania and Russia as well as employees of the CoE Secretariat.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is expected to receive the Group. “AGO” Group is to confer with speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov, Chief of the Presidential Office Ramiz Mehdiyev, have meetings at the Foreign Ministry, Central Election Commission, National Teleradio Council as well as to participate in the “roundtable” meeting on the judicial system.

Issues discussed at the meetings include current state of CoE-Azerbaijan relationships, election legislation, activity of local governments and courts, situation of media as well as Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
