AKIA ANNUAL CONFERENCE STARTS IN BAKU
The 3rd annual conference dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Credit Union Association (AKIA) started Thursday at the International Press Center.
Opening the 2-day conference, AKIA chairman Elchin Bagirov spoke of the Association. He said being a member of National Non-governmental Organization (NGO) Forum, International Microfinance Center (IMC) and World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO), AKIA is going to join the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU).
The major goal of credit unions is to develop economy.
AKIA Chairman stressed the aim of the conference is to analyze creation of academic credit unions in Azerbaijan and Association`s activity within 5 years.
Mr. Bagirov underlined the AKIA web site will be launched soon in Azeri, Russian and English languages.
In the first day, the conferees heard the reports on “World Bank Projects in Azerbaijan and development of credit unions”, “Project of the crediting of agriculture” and “Circulation of credit unions in Kyrgyzstan”.
The representatives of US Harvard and Massachusetts Universities, as well as heads of the Russian Credit Union League (RCUL), Kyrgyz and Lithuanian credit unions associations attend the conference.
